Steen Østergaard

For a number of years, Steen has worked as an external patent adviser for a number of medium-sized and large Scandinavian companies and start-up companies, primarily within the medico, chemistry, pharmaceutical and food businesses

Steen is mainly occupied with:

• Patent protection of valuable innovation through the preparation of protection strategies, novelty searches and patentability evaluations, drafting of patent applications, prosecution of patent applications, defence and enforcement of issued patents
• Ensuring freedom to operate for his clients relative to their competitors’ patents (e.g. patent risk management, Freedom-to-Operate analyses, infringement opinions, legal challenges, litigation (invalidation cases))
• Integration of IP (patents and trademarks) in the business strategies and organization of the client.

Steen is a founding partner of Guardian IP Consulting. Steen worked at a larger consultancy firm in Denmark prior to founding Guardian IP Consulting.
